12 Jun 26 - From The Biggest To The Smallest Expedition Cruise Day 3 - The Aberdeen Departure Committee

We were back onboard the Plancius and we had some time to relax after our visits to the Ythan Estuary and the Bullers of Buchan. However, it wasn't as relaxing for the ship's crew and expedition team as we had been joined by another nineteen, mainly British, passengers. They all needed to move into their cabins, before being taken through the first of the ship briefings and practicing the safety drill. In the meantime, I could join the rest of my cabin and Birgit who were enjoying a relaxing drink, a cuppa of tea for me, and a general chat.
It was nice to relax and have a drink and chat with my table mates: Kris, Birgit, Luc and Joris (left to right)

Finally, it was time to depart and I left the others and headed up to the port bridge wing.
Finally, the pilot was onboard and we were off

We had hoped for an appearance of the Aberdeen Harbour welcome committee. This didn't show up as we arrived, but they were waiting in the harbour mouth to see us on our way.

There were a lot of passengers on deck to look for the Bottlenose Dolphins
Finally, we were at sea
Soon after we left Aberdeen, it was dinner time and after that, there was a long briefing about our landing in the Shetland Islands on the next morning. This was still going on as the sun started to drop.
Not long to sunset
The sun had given up by the time the briefing was ending
